Urinary bladder stones

I have a 7 year old lab that had a stone removed from his urinary bladder. It is a cysteine stone. Has anyone had the same problem? What kind of diet change? I am also giving him K-Plus which is potassium citrate plus cranberry. I understand this is hereditary? I have fed him raw until this occurred. Would appreciate any help

Re: Urinary bladder stones

Sue, I am assuming you mean that he had stones in his urethra. Is that correct?

If so, I had a dog whose stones were so large that they nearly blocked urination, which is deadly. He had to have emergency surgery. He was 4. I did not change his diet or give supplements. He died at 12 and never had stones again. None of his offspring, his siblings, his parents or his grandparents had stones.
