Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

Nothing special here. My family is going to a relative's for the afternoon. But I am stayng home. I hope everyone has a happy and SAFE holiday. No, I'm not the Grinch, I worked in public safety for too many years to want to get out in the mix. The main thing is fpr everyone to get home afterwards safely.

Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

Everyone is coming to my house. My dad and one of my brothers are here from Kentucky and it's so wonderful having them close. My sister, b-i-l, their three kids, my aunt, uncle and their two kids along with me, hubby and our four ankle biters. It's a houseful and I love it! I actually have about twice that for Thanksgiving with my husbands family but they are going elsewhere this year. It'll be cozy this year.

Everyone has been at my house for the last few days visiting with dad but my sis took him and my brother to her house for tonight to let me clean. So I have a nice respite right now. The soothing calm before the wonderful storm. All is good!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!

Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

My big day was last Sat. Tiring but wonderful with 21 in the house. Ten of them didn't get to come, but during the rest of the seasons' holidays, I hope to be able to see all but one or two of those. Then I get to go Sat. Dec. 1st to my people's yearly gathering this year, and hopefully see most of them there since this year may be the last I will get to see some of them. When you get older, that is the way it is. All of my dad's generation is now gone the way of their fathers, and my generation is making it's way there. So, Happy Thanksgiving... yes, gobble, gobble, gobble! Be sure to keep the tums happy! And saftey first for all!

Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

Mary, no wonder Monday was "stinky". You missed your family!

If I can talk my parents into going back to MO for Christmas we have about 20 (or more) in my aunt's very small house. It's semi-controlled chaos, and my favorite place in the world to be! It's been several years since we were together, and it's such an emotional battery-charger for me!

Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Just wanted to say that we are all ok. I will be at my mohter in laws. We actualy took a road trip last weekend to Salt Lake City Utah. About 10 hours.
It was a family trip for my son to run in regional cross country meet for junior olympics. First family trip in years.

Re: Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

Thanksgiving is going to be laid back for us this year. I sorta fixed the traditional dinner last Saturday. Tomorrow is going to be a Hillbilly Thanksgiving as you know I am from Ky. Marinated pork shoulder picnic ham, mustard greensw/bacon grease cole slaw, mashed potatoes, grn beans, corn on the cob,yum O. Putting all fun aside, I wish you all the joy, Love your family with everything you have, yes even your husband and mother-in-law (HAHA), May HE keep safe in your travels to your destination and to your homes of abode.

IN CHRISTIAN LOVE,

BLESSEDNANNYOF2

Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

Hey Nanny, I'm from Kentucky too! I love to get back there from time to time. It's so beautiful especially this time of year. I'm related to the Hatfields. I can't prove it but I'm sure my mother-in-law has McCoy blood runnng through her veins.

On a serious note, whatever you do this Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season remember to feel the joy of it all. There's another thread talking about how depressed everyone gets. This season does remind us a lot of those people we lost or those who are still around but the relationship is rocky and difficult. Please just hang in there, the holiday blues do pass. Don't forget to enjoy the joys God gives us big and small, and don't forget the sisters here that will uplift your spirits and your needs in prayer. May He grant us all a measure of peace and comfort.

Re: Thanksgiving Where & How

Blessed Nanny, I'll be at your house today! Wow! Your menu sounds a lot better to me than a "traditional Thanksgiving" meal.

To all: be blessed. Enjoy your family. Find the joys. Life is too short to be miserable. (I tell myself that everyday. Some days I believe me, some days I don't.)
