I have a photo of Dr Martin Vitousek's Piper Aztec on the airstrip at Fanning Is. He would radio ahead to his assistant, Kam Chou to start the generator that powered the radio beacon (US Navy surplus)to guide his way through the cloud cover of the convergence zone.

It is reported that a US Coast Guard C130 once landed on that airstrip and that the USCG would never attempt such an operation again!

Aeromarine is at present concentrating on obtaining finances to expand its operations down into the Carribean (Freeport, Bimini, Havana, San Juan, AVI & BVI, etc), however, we have had long-range plans from day 1 to someday extend our operations to service various islands in the Pacific. The major challenge to overcome (as in any major business venture) is funding... Not an easy thing to come by in todays economy. If you like, I will contact you privately to discuss the matter further.

From a personal standpoint, I have spent many long years sailing the Pacific, and, like any person would, have developed a deep seated love for the sea and its islands... hence my interest in Fanning and the many other islands in the region. So, consequently, I have drempt of one day being able to utilize our vintage aircraft to service these wonderful places! Look forward to talking with you all.
