I've been looking through the collection of NJ locations and it's like a blast from the past. I grew up near a good portion of them since I live literally right next to West Milford, home of the weird, and spent some of my childhood summers there with my grandpa.

I was so happy to see you listed the pole art of Route 23~! A lot of the things you have pictures of were actually put up when I was still a kid. Whenever my mom would take me to my aunt's house we'd drive by the poles and I would always look for new ones! That whale is still there, too! This site is so nostalgic for me. If you come back to West Milford again in the coming years you should go see Fairy Tale Forest! They're currently restoring it. It isn't creepy, but a giant shoe house is certainly a sight!

Sometimes we found things and saw things that were "unusual". He passed in 1990 before I could pry his mind and ask about a few of those unusual things.

I have been a paramedic for 15 years....i write, too....my brother was killed in a car accident 0n feb 12, 2008...i was the medic....therefore, the loss of sanity...but I'm crawling back... :) writing again.... love ur site....u and I have something so terrible in common...saw that, about Haley....I'm so sorry....it never goes away....dosent really get better...you adapt to it....time does go by, but it really dosen't heal, per se....I miss Shane every minute of every day....I know u know what that's like....but, I am so blessed to have been there with him when he died...he had the best medical care that he could....it is a big comfort....but not enough....I really wish I could tell u more things that sounded encouraging, but I'm not the lying sort....but I can say, I KNOW how u feel, and I am right there, with u....even if u never read this, just seeing that ur going through this, too, and that Im really not as alone as I feel, somehow, gives me a small bit of peace....I never went to talk to anyone after it happened...i just kept working....i never grieved.....i couldn't.....my career and my boss wouldn't let me....i even got the hospital bill for the care i gave him, because he had no insurance... i asked for help that never came....so there went the sanity.....i hope u r not going through this alone, like me, and that u have a wonderful support group and maby u r seeking a therapist....i quit being a paramedic last year, because not only am i extremely mentally broken, but i have a very nasty bowel disease made 10 times worse by the stress i'm under.....i trully hope they nailed the ******* who hurt ur sister....they let the guy who killed my brother off with a slap on the wrist....i didn't even get to give an impact statement....look, if u do read this, email me sometime....i've never gotten to talk to anyone else....just other people who have NO clue what I've been through....or still going through....i just miss my big brother....sorry i wrote so much....i just wanted u to know and for as I don't understand anything that has happened since the day that Shane died, I do understand exactly what place in ur life u r at right now.....best of luck and love to u....a fellow victim of circumstance....Meredeth

I wanted to just add onto the Creepy College story or "Hell House". The guy Thomas who updated the lady's story has not ventured far enough off.. There IS a pool and a pool house about a mile away that was a part of the college, i have been there and could NOT go back after what we saw.. don't look into the water! Creepy College has since been completely demolished and most of the lady's story was true.. we live here, we know all of the hear-say and can distinguish the rumors from the falsities. And the bridge is not "THE" cry baby bridge, but at night you do hear strange children sounds, like a whining or whimpering-like sounds. Just thought I'd add my input because I love my state and want the history to be shared =)
