Prominent occipital bump?

What are the feelings of other breeders regarding a prominent occipital bump on a 9 week old male puppy - have these heads broadened and flattened sufficiently in adulthood, or do they stay rather 'peaked' on top?

Re: Prominent occipital bump?

You must be referring to the "DOME of KNOWLEDGE"! I know some breeders call them Dunce Caps, but I think my version is more politically correct!LOL!!

In all seriousness they do eventually broaden and flatten, some take longer than others. I was always taught beware of the puppy with the big flatter looking head as it won't have room to grow out,it's already as broad as it's going to be overall, the one that has the pointier top skull will spread out and grow out over time and have a broader head.

A friend has a lovely black boy who for a short time looked like "Baldor Conehead" from Saturday Night Live. His very prominent "cone" eventually flattened out and he now has beautiful melon! Wait it out, you won't be sorry....Now go rub that cone and make a wish....wink!

I call them a party hat! The ones I have seen have broadened.
