Fozen Semen Issue

Has anyone had this issue with their stud dog when trying to freeze semen?
I was having semen shipped to me from a stud dog from overseas this is the letter from the vet doing the collection
My question is there any way to fix this issue or should I give up on this one?

"I collected today semen from Labrador retriever XXX (I don't really want to reveal the studs name).
freezing purpose.

There were 980 million sperm cells in the ejaculate. Motility was less than 50%
evaluated immediately after collection. There were plenty of coiled tails. After
diluting into the extender and keeping the semen at room temperature for about
5 minutes, the motility had worsened being only 30%.

The semen was not frozen because of inferior initial quality and very poor
prognosis of getting sufficiently motile semen post thaw.

Libido of the male was excellent. Testicles were normal.

Re: Fozen Semen Issue

The stud dog owner can do a culture on the stud dog and see if there is an infection and treat it accordingly. They can also add supplements like Glyco Flex, Omega 3 to hopefully improve the semen. I would then re-test the sperm in two months and see if it has improved. I consider around 1.5 billion and 90+ motility to be very good sperm.

How old is the dog, has he been collected and frozen before if so what were the results back then. We had this happen to us, very expensive imported semen, we got all semen that was collected which ended up being one and a half matings . Unbeknown to everyone he was on his was to becoming infertile, when the bitch was inseminated ( used all the straws in one go) we got no puppies was gutted.
