cheek swabs

Cheek swabs - buccal brushes. I want to get some dogs EIC tested and have been searching for cheek brushes. So far all I have found is packs of 100. That is a whole lot more than I will ever need. Are there any dealers that sell smaller quantities?

Re: cheek swabs

Even though it's more than you need, 100 cheek swabs are still very inexpensive - something like 5 or 6 dollars, shipped. Just get the big batch and share them with your friends

Re: cheek swabs

The cheapest ones I found were $183.00 per 100 plus shipping. If you know of something for 5-6 dollars, I would love to know about it. TIA

Re: cheek swabs

I purchased my swabs from a drug store, and they came two per pack. Try your local drug stores.

Re: cheek swabs

If your local drug store doesn't carry them (although they almost certainly will ) there are also links on the UMN web site

Re: cheek swabs

15 cents a pack at our local family type drug store/compounder here.

Re: cheek swabs

I don't remove dews, is it possible to check puppies under 8 weeks old with a cheek swab?

You can do EIC testing with blood also, but the puppies will need permanent id, such as microchips.

Re: cheek swabs

Called 16 drug stores, including several that are near a hospital. Nothing! I checked the UM website & you can get 100 for $125 or 2 for $10.50. Since I am looking for 4 swabs, neither of those options look very good. This is very frustrating. Also looked at KV Vet, Drs. F&S. No luck. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Re: cheek swabs

Maybe this would be a better option-

You must have looked at UMN's own prices rather than following their links on the submissions page to Walgreen's Amazon etc... all very cheap

Re: cheek swabs

My vet has always given me a couple when I asked for them. I offer to pay for them but he just gives them to me.

Re: cheek swabs

Thanks, everyone! I ordered some inexpensive swabs. I think I got the right ones. I will know soon!
