Maternal grandsire

The maternal grandsire theory is rampant in horse breeding, (look it up in relation to Secretariat) but I'm wondering if some of the veteran dog breeders believe in it?

Study, and be patient, grasshopper.

Re: Maternal grandsire

for the very interesting links.

Re: Maternal grandsire

Not a grasshopper but will admit I have a lot to learn after only doing this for 10 years. I have not heard my mentors speak of this. I have only heard about looking at the dam of the stud you are considering. So if the maternal grandsire theory is well known in dogs, I apologize for bringing up something that is common knowledge to all.

Re: Maternal grandsire

I have used this method several times and it has worked quite well for me. Of course the dog that you are line breeding on should be a top quality animal.
