Pups are doing very well. Thank you for all of your replies. I followed the advice given and it worked! Mom is running a low grade temp in spite of being on Keflex. She's accepted pups and has turned into a great mom.
We did another section with another girl two days later. This mom was worse - she tried to eat pups at first! However, she wouldn't eat the placentas which I brought home. I had to muzzle her for pups to nurse. She never growled or was super upset, but if my hand wasn't on them, she'd try to eat them! After several hours of putting them by her muzzled face on and off, she started licking through the muzzle. I gingerly removed it and she started 'changing diapers' appropriately. Whew, that was scary.
After 2 years of no puppies, we have 10 total and are very busy. Those first hours after a section are crazy. One C-section was done b/c mom had a ruptured uterus and emergency section last time. The other was done for a small litter without labor.
