As read in the Sunderland Echo 18th November, describing the actual use of the R.F.A. It goes without saying the importance of keeping this vital service British. Only British seaman can handle the discipline, required to carry out the skilled work involved in refuelling at sea, and ammunitioning a warship on the move. Im ex R.N and M.N. I was going to move to R.F.A but went to B.P Tankers instead. I made the wrong move. Now the crew of all British tankers are of cheap foreign labour only required to mop up leaking oil from the aging tankers. A spokesman from B.P told me that it is cheaper to let a £25-£50 million tanker run to rust than keep it maintained. Is that what they intend doing to the R.F.A ? Speak up lads and lasses and defend our elite Navies. |

Just read your story on the internet and saw the photos. Gave me goosebumps! We were young then weren't we. Lived in Australia for 20 years and am now in America. Lots to talk about. Give me a ring anytime ####-###-###-####. My days off are Thurs, Fri, Sat. I live in Washington state on the west coast with my Australian-American wife Lisa. Unlucky ! Taffy ! For 26 years I have thought of you and still can't say the technical name for milk. Taff |
