Thanks for such a wonderful website with details on your experiences. I am now encouraged to build my own 4-wheel bike. I will start early 2017. The vehicle will be based on the Spanish Evovelo. I\'ll keep you posted on my progress. Thanks! Eric.

Hi,

I discovered your site while researching the Sawmill Creek Constructed Wetland for todays posting on my biking blog (http://ottawavelooutaouais.wordpress.com/) I am really inspired with what you guys are doing with your quadracycling. Way to go. I linked your article on Sawmill Creek on my blog. Hope that's OK.

Take care,
Brian

Rhoades Car two seater long frame,

I bought it used from a guy in Kansas. Immediately turned around and purchased $1,200 in accessories. It's just about the way I want it. Am considering adding the second disc brake. It is $300 if you don't order it when built. Then I will have to install it. Do I really need to get it?

Please email me so we can communicate on this great machine. I look forward to your comments on the bike. Like do you still ride it frequently?

Take Care Folks,
Your Wyoming Friends,
Tom & Deb

What kind of bike are you using these days?

Rhoades Car passenger 36 or 42 speed

I just posted a lengthy dissertation about my Rhoades Car in comments section. My comment to potential buyers is that the four passenger with deluxe seats is almost more than one person can do up grades. It is not so bad with multi speed gearing. I am 72, which might make a little difference, not much. My legs "burn down" rather quickly, but being able to stop for a bit helps tremendously. The electric assist seems to be the way to go. I rode one with assist in neighboring town before getting mine.
It was used, I got it on E bay for a tremendous price. would probably have bought a 2 passenger if buying new. Ted

I have been very interested in reading as many comments and watching as many videos as I have been able to find on the internet about the Rhoades Car, which I am considering having made for me. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences and videos with us. They are very helpful.

I am a type 2 diabetic, who has gained almost 150 pounds (now weighing around 300 lb.) since being put on insulin near the end of 2007. I have other health problems, which leave me feeling physically and mentally exhausted most of the time. I am looking for a way to lose weight, increase my exercise tolerance, if possible, and allow me to go to a grocery store again. I have had to depend upon others to offer to pick up a few things for me, once in a great while. I have been told that I will continue to gain weight as long as my body is in a starvation mode. I am trying to learn as much as I can about other's experiences (good or bad) using the Rhoades Car, which looks like it might be able to give me the ability to be able to buy some food on a regular basis, be able to give me a low-impact form of exercise, a comfortable place to sit whenever I need to rest, permitting me to get out of the house every day in good weather, be able to go places inaccessible to me unless I were unable to walk there, and maybe even be able to meet new people.

I am still trying to decide whether it would be possible for me to pedal a 4W2PLF or even a 4W4P, without being forced to order and use the PD-750 powerdrive motor assist, which would add at least another 150 pounds to the bike (using two 12-volt, 75 ah, deep-cycle batteries, each weighing 59.8 lb., in addition to the 30 lb. weight of the PD-750, its controller, and its charger).

I would prefer to be able to have room for at least one passenger, but don't really want the extra weight or the expense of needing to have the PD-750 powerdrive motor assist. I don't have to go very far from my house before encountering some inclines of 30 to 60 degrees. I haven't been able to find anything written about the feasibility of being able to tackle such hilly areas, unassisted, with only the 42-speed gearing option.

I would appreciate being able to read about others' experiences when using their Rhoades Cars on hilly terrain.
