Hi there... Neat site... keep up the good work... found Naugatuck when researching family. If anyone stumbles across the name Frederick William Walsh whose daughters name was Catherine Irene. Would love to hear from you. Frederick\'s draft card lists 799 Grand Ave as his home and he was a janitor at the Court House...There doesn\'t seem much more on the family.. I don\'t think he returned from the war... Cheers for now... |

My great grandfather, Simon Gavin (22-year old Irish immigrant), enlisted with the 15th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry at New Haven, CT on December 28th,1864. He listed his residence as Naugatuck, CT. I'm on a quest for additional information about his life in Naugatuck. |

I am now growing older and trying to become wiser. Admittedly my quest for knowledge regarding Naugatuck, it's history, developments and Indian tribes and occupation has been very strong as of Late. What Indian tribes were actually in this Naugatuck Valley as well as Oakville, Watertown, Waterbury-Mattatuck, Prospect areas ,Cheshire areas? (There may be some Indian Connections in my far away past! ) Also how do I find out about my Grandfathers past/history ? Any information available on the Warner family, the Noble family, the Hickey FAmily in these areas? Also the Valentine family and the Wooster /Monroe families? THANKS SO MUCH! GREAT SITE!!!! |

I lived in Naugatuck when I was a kid. I just got back to my home from a visit to Naugatuck after not being there in 10 years. I spent two days looking at things that I remembered as a kid; houses, schools, ball fields, the penny candy shop, where old friends lived, Rita's and downtown. I remember sitting at the top of City Hill and watching Naugatuck Lumber's fire. I enjoyed my visit more than I thought I would. There is no place like Home. I have not lived in Naugatuck in over 35 years but it will always be my hometown. |

Live in Arlington, VA and graduated from NHS in '83. My parents still live in the house I grew up in. Did you know that there's a very old Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR) Monument at the top of Andrew's Mountain (near Mr. Andrew's log cabin and the CT State Forest) that marks ancient Indian tribe boundaries? I'd like to help the historic society preserve the site. Are you interested? E-mail me. Dan |
