Was a lifeguard/counselor at Jened in 1995 - was the first ever perpetrator apparently according to then director of a guest nearly drowning whilst I was on duty driving the pontoon boat ...

...thankfully with the help of my fellow lifeguards we were able to save her but it was pretty unnerving to say the least as in clothes the water and weeds within it dragged you under thus causing me let alone the guest to panic!

In a nutshell I let a guest drive the boat (top speed of 5mph it was then) for a few turns around the lake and we hit one of the rowing boats with this camper in.

Accidents happen but I later lost the job on the grounds that I didn't react quickly enough - I conceded this but also felt that it was my first time/incident doing the job ever and you just never know how you'll react.

Anyway I was allowed to stay on at camp as a counselor which was alright and really the only bugbears from my time at camp was having my heart broken in a big way.

Now thirteen years on I'm married with a gorgeous little one year old lad and so I've moved on from that lost girl...

It's a long and painful story but I'll never forget her and for a long time replayed the moments we had together a lot as a kind of what might have been exercise to help me I hoped get over her.

Anyhow I'd love to hear from anyone who went to camp in 1995 and can remember me?

Kevin Smith, Stacey Duncan (a girlfriend on camp despite her having a fella already who visited once which scared the living **** out of me as he was a big guy!), Kristina Richardson from Chicago and Pamela Harper from Bournemouth in England (the woman I lost my heart to) - hopefully I've not scared her off?!!

know what Camp Jened was before it was Jened?

Camp Jened was Camp St Vincent de Paul in the 60's and 70's. Not sure when St Vinny's started, but I was a camper and then a staff member there from 1969 - 1976 (not every summer). Prior to that the camp was a Jewish summer camp and many of the cabins had names and dates written on the timbers from the 50's.
We used to make up ghost stories about them.
We used to go to Dutch's too - its been around a long time - and another place at the end of Glen Wild Rd (a really fun late night walk under the canopy of trees - pitch black).

I love it! you care so f**** much about camp despite the hard times. I was there in 2003 and still feels like yesterday as was the most important summer of my life. I haven't been able to return yet, but when i do you better be there!...What was the song we used to sing to each other? it was very romantic....Your little girl- Libby

wow, what a load of great memories. its seems that the only documented evidence of my presence there was for my involvement in 2002's shaving foam attacks! i have moved on since then and hardly ever do this anymore.
Was awesome to see how people are doing and to remind myself of two of the best times of my life. wish i was going back there now.
hope everyone is well, sas, mike, pedro, steve, leanne, emily, mitch, and everyone else, you guys rock,dude.
