Great article. Makes a good point. My experience is very limited , but I've already had an oil line break in a very confined engine room twice, once with a resulting fire. Also had an emergency when the most trained firefighter aboard could not remember where the fire axe was located. Obviously, fire emergencies are not all that uncommon.
Have seen videow of land-based departments moving a burning boat in a marine to the gas dock so they could access it more easily from the trucks. Further review of marina fires and their management . We've had a couple of dockside fires without extension to neighboring boats. A big fire was contained by cutting all the boats adrift to lessen exposure.
